Five questions and my answers from the RevGal site: (And I wish I could figure out how to change the text color or font or something......)
1. "It's my party and I'll [blank] if I want to..."
Favorite way to celebrate your birthday (dinner with family? party with friends? a day in solitude?)
Dinner with Mr. Incredible, homemade cards and hugs from WonderBoy and SuperGirl, my sisters remembering to call me. That's all it takes. I'm easy.
2. "You say it's your birthday... it's my birthday too, yeah..."
Do you share your birthday with someone famous? (Click here to find out!)
A.A. Milne, Danny Kaye, Kevin Costner, Cary Grant.....but no one on my exact day including the year....they are saving that spot for me, when I become famous, I guess.
3. "Lordy Lordy look who's forty..."
Milestone birthdays:
a) just like any other birthday--they're just numbers, people.
b) a good opportunity to look back/take stock
c) enjoy the black balloons--I'll be hiding under a pile of coats until the day is over
d) some combination of the above, or something else entirely.
D, I guess. I freaked out over turning forty last year. Woe is me, what have I accomplished, and all that. Then I got cancer. Then my mom got cancer. And by God, I am looking forward to turning 41 in about 2 weeks. Every single birthday is going to be a GREAT one after this year, and I will tell my age proudly! Since I was the only one up at midnight on New Year's Eve, I decided to save the champagne for my birthday this year.
4. "Happy birthday, dear... Customer..."
Have you ever been sung to in a restaurant? Fun or cringe-worthy?
Hate the singing, but love free pieces of cake with candles stuck in them.
5. "Take my birthday--please"
Tell me one advantage and one disadvantage about your particular birthday (e.g. birthday in the summer--never had to go to school; birthday near Christmas--the dreaded joint presents)
EDITED TO ADD: This could also simply be something you like/dislike about your birthday (e.g. I like sharing a birthday with my best friend, etc.).
I like that my birthday is in January, but not so close to Christmas that the presents get lumped together. Unfortunately it is about the time that Christmas credit card statements are coming in and the pot looks emptier. A friend and I have birthdays within 2 weeks of each other, and we like to plan something fun for ourselves. Also, in high school, my birthday was in January, another friend had hers on the same day in February, and another on the same day in March. Sometimes I still get calls from random high school friends who remember it's my birthday.
