Friday Five - Pottermania!

I've got it bad. This Friday Five, from the RevGals site....

Accio Friday Five!

1. Which Harry Potter book is your favorite and why?

Oh that's a hard one. The first is such a great introduction to the wizarding world, and to Harry and his pals. By the second one, you know you are in for a treat, and the plot is first-rate. Azkaban was good, but darker. I like Goblet of Fire, because the tournament is a great set-up, and by that time the characters are so well-defined, and I was rooting for Hermione and Ron. I like Number 5 the least so far, but I am re-reading it after having seen the film, so the jury is still out. I've read Number 6 twice now, and I am still upset about that death at the end. I can't answer this question except to say that my favorite is Number 7, because I haven't read it yet.

2. Which character do you most resemble? Which character would you most like to get to know?

How can I possibly answer these questions?? Hmmm....sometimes I feel like I resemble Lupin, a mild-mannered caring teacher/parent who turns ferocious and scary once a month....(or more). I was studious, like Hermione, but lacked her bossiness and bravery as an adolescent. I think I've developed both attributes in my later years. And who hasn't felt like Harry, the orphaned child, with a foot in two different worlds, caught up in an epic struggle between the good and bad inside of you? Who would I most like to get to know? Of the main characters: Neville or Dumbledore. Of the lesser known ones: Tonks.

3. How careful are you about spoilers?
a) bring 'em on--even if I know the destination, the journey's still good
b) eh, I'd rather not know what happens, but I'm not going to commit Avada Kedavra if someone makes a slip
c) I will sequester myself in a geodesic dome to avoid finding anything out

C! I am already planning how to get my book Friday at midnight and make it out of the store without hearing someone gasp out loud after scanning the last few pages. I will walk out singing "La, la, la I can't hear you...."with my fingers in my ears if necessary. Then I will read all day Saturday. I will NOT spoil it for anyone else.

4. Make one prediction/share one hope about book 7.

Snape is redeemed through self-sacrifice.

5. Rowling has said she's not planning any prequels or sequels, but are there characters or storylines (past or future) that you would like to see pursued?

No, it needs to end, pure and simple. Now if I could just figure out how to write something as magical myself.....
